Zest Lettings specialises in HMO property management. Why? Because when Kelly Lemon and James Moffat built their HMO portfolio they couldn’t find an agent that would manage their properties with the care and attention to detail they needed, so they set up their own agency.
They know from first-hand experience how important it is to look after the properties and tenants to make sure they maximise their investments. In fact, back in 2014/2015 Kelly and James won a National Award for HMO Property Management.
Both work in property full time now but both have transferable skills from their previous careers, their local knowledge (10 years+) and perhaps more importantly, their black book of contacts.
After graduating with first-class honours, Kelly started her career in financial journalism and covered first-hand the 2008 credit crash for Bloomberg Television. She stayed in broadcast journalism and worked as a financial newsreader whilst building her property portfolio in her spare time.
After winning HMO Landlord of the Year, she was interviewed by the top property magazines and started freelancing for Property Investor News where she got to interview some of the most interesting people in the property industry.
Now she focuses on expanding and maximising her portfolio.
After spending more than 20 years working for a variety of blue-chip companies within the retail sector at a senior level.
James left corporate life in 2014 after the expansion of his personal property portfolio. He couldn’t find a local agent to manage his properties with the same degree of care and professionalism he expected so he took over the role himself. He had such success he then opened a lettings agency so he could offer other landlords the same peace of mind.
James now oversees the lettings and property management arm of our business and manages the operational element of any developments and building projects we take on.
James’s vast experience and ability to manage a large team of people in a variety of environments has served him well and comes in useful when managing HMO properties that have multiple moving parts.
James and Kelly are based in one of Corby’s surrounding villages and are privileged enough to live in an 18th-century converted Windmill with their three children.
Laura has spent the majority of her life building the core skills required to manage tenants effectively and efficiently.
As well as raising her four children she has also managed other children and worked in the childcare and leisure industry for just under ten years.
Laura has been working with Zest Lettings for several years and she has proved herself to be an invaluable member of the team. Her nurturing style and ability to manage challenging situations proved extremely useful when managing high emotions during Covid-19.
An essential skill of HMO Management is people management and this is a skill Laura has in bucket loads, with four children she has had her fair share of practice.
